Materials and brands
Doors are available in many styles, colours and compositions, and we can order units with decorative glass, sidelights and transoms to suit the house. Because we also install siding, trim and carpentry, a new door is finished with a properly flashed opening and a surround that matches the rest of the exterior.

The opening matters as much as the door
- Flashing and pan. Water that reaches a door opening must be directed out and down. We install a sill pan and flash the jambs before the door goes in.
- Level and square. A door that binds after a season was usually installed out of square or with the hinge side shimmed inconsistently.
- Trim and finish. Exterior trim, a door surround and paint or stain protect the frame. It is also what makes a replacement door look original to the house rather than added on.
How the project runs

Common questions about doors
How long does door installation take?
A straightforward entry or storm door replacement is usually a one-day job. A door that requires enlarging the opening, rebuilding the threshold or adding a surround can take two days, especially if carpentry or siding repairs are needed around the opening.
Can I replace just the door slab?
Sometimes, if the frame, sill and threshold are sound and you want a new look rather than better performance. Where the frame is rotted or the door leaks air, replacing the whole unit with a pre-hung door is the more durable option.
Do you install garage doors?
Yes. We install single and multi-car garage doors and have completed them across Montgomery County. See the garage door projects in our gallery for examples.
