What to have ready when you call

You do not need to prepare anything formal — a short conversation is usually enough for us to tell you what the visit will involve. It helps if you can describe:

• Which part of the exterior is giving trouble: roof, siding, windows, gutters, doors, or the trim around them.
• What you are seeing — a stain on a ceiling, granules in the gutter, a draft, peeling paint, water in the basement after storms.
• How old the existing roof, siding or windows are, if you know.
• Whether the property is a single home, a twin or a townhouse, since shared walls change how flashing and trim are handled.
• Any deadline you are working towards, such as a sale, a refinance inspection or a family event.
